Henry Phillips was born in the last quarter of 1920 in Wokingham to George and Gladys Phillips (née Newman).
In 1939 Henry's parents, and his sister Joan were living at Stokesay in Watmore Lane, Winnersh.
His father's occupation was recorded as Council Sanitary Section Refuge Scavenger (Heavy Worker),
while Joan was a drapery shop assistant.
They shall not grow old,
