Charles White was born on 16th September 1898 in Hurst to Alfred and Elizabeth White. He was christened in St.Nicholas Church on the 6th November that year. The family lived in Davis Street along with Charles' paternal grandmother, Mary. At the time of the 1911 census Charlie was still living in Davis Street, along with his two sisters Katie and ELsie.

Charles was killed in action on 2nd December 1917 while serving with the Royal Berkshire Regiment in Belgium.

Charles has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
